 NEW YEAR'S IN BATH

Dearest reader,

Word has reached my ears of a certain enchanting city that has left even the most seasoned travellers quite undone — Bath.

New Year, birthday vibes, and all the celebrations rolled into one—because yes, I’m a New Year’s baby! We stayed at the incredible Gainsborough Bath Spa, home to its very own natural hot springs.

Absolutely mind-blowingly incredible. Rooftop views that made us gasp, watching people—absolute legends—brave the freezing spring baths. Me? Nope. I was very happy sipping my champagne and living vicariously.

Ringing in the New Year with the Bath Cathedral glowing behind us—yes, it was very wet, but that didn’t stop the fireworks from lighting up the sky.

Birthday drinks kicked off at the Royal Crescent Hotel—fancy, frothy, and oh-so-Bath.

Sunday roast followed with a view of the Pulteney Weir (yes, the one everyone Instagram-stalks), and for dessert, the iconic Sally Lunn’s buns—soft, buttery, utterly moreish, and unforgettable.

We even managed to squeeze in a late birthday dinner at a mind-blowingly good Sri Lankan spot—because, let’s be honest, we absolutely cannot see my birthday out (and the first day of the year) without a proper curry—Oliver definitely wouldn’t survive otherwise!

Absolutely the perfect end to an yet another unforgettable birthday–New Year mash-up.

Reader, be warned: one does not simply visit Bath — one falls headfirst into its spell.

With love
Mel x
