CESME
This town is an intoxicating blend of old-world charm and modern flair.
We stayed in the most incredible, authentic Airbnb — a gorgeous little apartment with a balcony that looked straight out over the Çeşme marina.
Every morning, the local Turkish family who ran it spoiled us rotten with the most delicious breakfasts — different every day, fresh, colourful, and absolutely delish. And yes… those views? Every bite felt like a feast for the eyes too.
Walking along the marina itself with its gleaming yachts, outrageously chic boutiques, and ultra-trendy restaurants all vying for your attention … basically the Mayfair/Bond Street of Turkey.
And yep, the price tags might make your eyes water—we got charged the most ridiculous amount for a milkshake—not impressed, let me tell you!
We wandered through the maze of narrow, winding streets, expertly dodging the odd motorbike, popping into charming little shops, while Oliver and my mum — who could happily survive on nothing but ice cream — devoured far too many scoops, and I happily lost count of the countless glasses of Turkish tea I sipped, and happily nibbling on my absolute fave, lokum (aka Turkish delight!).
And Çeşme Castle? Absolute wow. We spent an entire afternoon wandering through its ancient stone walls, completely mesmerised by the views — every turn more breathtaking than the last.
As the sun began to dip, everything glowed — mountains, sea, sky — pure magic. I was snapping photos like a madwoman (I couldn’t stop myself), click, click, click, trying to hold onto every second.
As we had every night since arriving, we followed the fading light down to Atatürk Beach — our evening happy place — joining the locals (dogs included!) to watch the day melt away. The perfect front-row seat to sunset bliss.
