GUERNSEY / HERM ISLAND

After watching The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society for, oh I don’t know, the umpteenth time, I finally convinced Oliver that we had to visit Guernsey!

And … we were left completely and utterly gobsmacked.

It felt like we’d stumbled onto some undiscovered, unspoilt corner of the world — dramatic cliffs, wild rainforest-like vistas, and Moulin Huet Bay, which was even more incredible than I ever imagined!

No wonder Renoir fell hopelessly in love with this island, capturing its beauty again and again in his masterpieces.

We traced his steps along the Renoir Walk, soaking in the very views that inspired him over 140 years ago — how super cool is that?

And just when I thought Guernsey couldn’t possibly get more perfect — it did.

We hopped on a short boat ride to Herm Island, and… oh. my. word.

A car-free, barefoot-on-the-sand paradise that feels like it’s been plucked straight from a tropical daydream. Wildflower-adorned paths, crystal-clear waters, and beaches so pristine it’s hard to believe you haven’t left the UK.

We wandered the island in total awe — that kind of “how is this even real?” disbelief that leaves you grinning like a kid.

To think we were still in Britain, yet it felt like we’d escaped to some far-flung island retreat  .

P.S. Would you believe I even found an authentic Durban bunny chow — cooked by a South African chef, right there in Guernsey… I could’ve cried! And yes, of course, I went all in with my hands (because there’s only one right way to eat it). 🇿🇦
