BRUSSELS / BRUGES
Brussels was our quick pit-stop — just enough time to gasp (again!) at the Grand-Place, still one of the grandest squares in all of Europe, in my books.
The intricate, mesmerising architecture speckled with gold (impossible to look away from!), the horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping through — it was all just breathtakingly regal.
We lingered in the square, sipping coffee, devouring waffles, and nibbling our way through every chocolate shop we passed (because yes, it was necessary). A little bit of indulgence never hurt anyone, right?
Then came the moules marinières — my forever Belgian favourite — with a side of golden frites and a bottle of fruit beer (obviously). I can never say no to a Kriek, Bacchus, or especially a Früli… ever!
Next stop — Bruges, the fairytale-like Venice of the North — all winding canals, cobbled charm, and chocolate-scented air.
First stop (always!)... Leonidas. One of my absolute favourite chocolate houses, where the hot chocolate comes by the bucket — and yes, we gulped ridiculous amounts. And no, I don’t regret a single sip, if you’re wondering!
We wandered and got blissfully lost in Bruges, the same way you do in the winding lanes of Venice. And maybe that’s one of the reasons I love it so much — it feels like Venice.
The markets, the traditions, the culture… everything felt so alive.
Two cities. One weekend.
A Belgian dream — dipped in chocolate, served with frites, and toasted with cherry beer.
With love
